This year, Fulcrum marked several big milestones in early childhood education (ECE)! Dave Mayer joined the Office for Catholic Schools (OCS) as the new director of early childhood education. This Fulcrum-funded position helps develop and grow early childhood programs across Western Washington.
Creating a plan.
“ECE provides outstanding kindergarten readiness in important areas such as language, math, and social skills, and puts students on a path for a successful school experience in a faith-filled environment,” said Dave.
With Dave’s leadership and Fulcrum’s newly streamlined application process for Early Childhood Education Grants, 35 archdiocesan schools received funding to enhance both their indoor and outdoor programming, while giving staff the opportunity for professional development.
Dave also oversaw the first virtual Early Learning Professional Development Day, which consisted of five different sessions directly related to growing early learning programs, and started Early Learning Roundtables for ECE leaders to share resources with one another.
“We will continue to build our current programs and look for growth opportunities to expand programming and professional development across the archdiocese,” Dave said, looking forward to the future of ECE. “More families should have the opportunity to experience early learning in a Christ-centered environment.”
