Fr. Paul Magnano is a founding member of the Fulcrum Board of Trustees and a current Emeritus member of the board. He currently serves as parish priest in Seattle at Christ Our Hope, Immaculate Conception, and St. James Cathedral. Fulcrum has been blessed by his leadership, commitment to Catholic education, and generous stewardship for over two decades.
The importance of accessible Catholic education cannot be overstated. I am deeply proud of the Fulcrum Foundation’s dedication to shaping a brighter future for thousands of young people throughout Western Washington.
My own life–including my decision to pursue the priesthood–is heavily influenced by Catholic education. My father was in the first class at Seattle’s St. Therese Catholic Academy and a graduate of Seattle Preparatory School and Seattle University. My mother attended the former St. Margaret School and graduated from Holy Names Academy and Seattle University. I am one of their eight children and a proud alumnus of Seattle’s St. Anne School, Seattle Preparatory School, and the Gregorian University in Rome. Our Catholic school roots are deep, and we understand the transformative power of faith-based learning.
Nearly twenty-five years ago, Fr. Stephen C. Rowan, Archbishop Alex Brunett, and other remarkable individuals shared with me their foresight and vision for what would soon become the Fulcrum Foundation. It didn’t take much convincing to get me hooked and I was proud to serve as a founding board member for this great organization.
As a pastor and advocate for youth and young adult ministries, I have seen the profound impact of Fulcrum time and time again. From families needing an extra boost to make their tuition affordable, to the lives changed by the innovative leaders in our schools–the tireless work of Fulcrum is changing lives.
When I sat down recently to update my estate plans, I reflected on the mission of Fulcrum. I was filled with gratitude for my own parents and past generations who made Catholic education possible for me and my siblings. And I knew I wanted to leave a similar legacy for future generations to experience the great fortune of a Catholic education.
My decision to support Fulcrum with a planned gift brings me continued joy and satisfaction. I know I have made a commitment to ensuring that the values and principles imparted in our schools will continue to thrive long after my lifetime.
Catholic schools are not merely educational institutions; they are communities that nurture the spiritual and intellectual growth of students. The generosity of many good people allows Fulcrum to sustain and enhance these communities and continue their vital work.
Like you, I look forward to the future with optimism. With a foundation for continued growth and excellence in Catholic education we are ensuring that the values of Catholic education continue to enrich lives for generations to come.
