To fulfill our Catholic education mission, the Archdiocese of Seattle, in partnership with the Office for Catholic Schools, the Fulcrum Foundation and the Ferry Family Charitable Foundation, commissioned a study to assess the need for a new Catholic high school to serve Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and San Juan counties, and Northern Snohomish. This study includes multiple components including a needs assessment and an enrollment feasibility study.

To conduct this study, a nationally recognized Catholic planning firm, Meitler, was retained. They will develop a comprehensive community and Catholic demographic report. The Meitler research team will also issue a market research survey, which will be available online in the spring for families with children in 10th grade and younger. The survey will assess parents’ willingness to enroll their children at the proposed new high school.

The timing to open the proposed high school has not yet been determined and will depend on levels of interest, enrollment demand, and funding. The proposed high school will be the first Catholic high school in the Northern Deanery, which encompasses Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and San Juan counties, and Northern Snohomish.

Additional information will be shared throughout the study process over the next four to five months. We ask for your prayerful support as we initiate a great step forward in expanding the availability of Catholic school education to serve more children in our archdiocese.
