Fulcrum Ambassadors visiting a school

The Fulcrum Foundation works with a wonderful group of volunteers who serve as ambassadors, or contacts, with Catholic schools in their region. These dedicated friends of Fulcrum attend special events at the school, acknowledge the teachers and staff, and serve as a local contact for the school administration. Visiting our schools is a wonderful way to see the impact of a Catholic education firsthand. Sheila Ryan, an ambassador in Pierce County, says “I may have the best volunteer job of all! I show up for fun events like ribbon cuttings, special masses, and more. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing the smiling faces of the students experiencing the joys of Catholic education and seeing the results of the work of the Fulcrum Foundation.” Since the early days of the ambassador program, volunteer Shelley Hovind has served as the program chair. She has personally visited over 20 schools and continues to be inspired by every occasion to walk onto a campus. Shelley shares, “Please join us! Catholic education is a gift for a lifetime and there’s nothing more life-giving than seeing our students shine.” We are grateful to Fulcrum friends Mary Lee and Father Stephen C. Rowan for helping Fulcrum get this unique program up and running many years ago.

Fulcrum is seeking volunteers to serve as ambassadors throughout the archdiocese. The time commitment is approximately 5 hours per month and an orientation and ongoing support are provided by Fulcrum staff. We are particularly seeking volunteers from the northern regions of Washington and from the Peninsula. To inquire about this unique opportunity, please contact Engagement Manager Stephanie Singler at stephanie.singler@fulcrumfoundation.org. We are excited to share more and hope to see you in a school soon!

Thank you to each of our dedicated volunteers currently serving as ambassadors: Shelley Hovind, chair, April Collier, Frank Feeman, Jo Marie Hansen, Anne Knight, Sheila Ryan, Shelly Sailer, Ann Shanahan, Theresa Twining, and Michelle Ventoza.

Note: If volunteering is not an option for you at this time, please consider attending a school Mass or other occasion with your local ambassador. Contact Stephanie at the address above for more information.
