A New Years letter from the executive director.
Dear Friends of Fulcrum,
Happy New Year! Though 2020 brought us many unforeseen hardships, it also illustrated the strength of our Catholic community and revealed once again the unending generosity and compassion of those around us.
These characteristics were exemplified by Fulcrum’s supporters in 2020 and will continue to guide us as we move forward into 2021—to a better and brighter future for all.
As a first step toward building that future, I am excited to invite you to our fully virtual 19th annual Celebration of Light on Friday, January 29, 2021! My very first Celebration of Light last year was a truly magical experience. The ballroom, the program, the speeches—all of these things created an undeniable energy around supporting Catholic education. For that night, it seemed like all things were possible.
While this year will look different, I know one thing will remain the same: the incredible heart and drive that Fulcrum supporters bring when they work together to make a difference in the Archdiocese of Seattle. As much as we yearn to physically gather in that beautiful ballroom at the Sheraton Grand Seattle, I know that this virtual experience will unite us no matter where we are in the world, letting us shine together for one night across Western Washington and beyond as a light for Catholic education.
We promise a fun and inspiring online experience! Join our pre-show to mix-and-mingle with Fulcrum friends at virtual tables. Hear speeches from distinguished speakers such as Archbishop Paul D. Etienne. Watch an impact video about Fulcrum’s mission in the archdiocese. Help us honor Tom and Jan O’Callahan with the Archbishop’s Award for their tireless work with the IT Network Modernization Fund, a project which has upgraded internet access and capacity in archdiocesan schools, and without which our schools could not have transitioned to remote status. Tom and Jan are truly deserving of the award this year.
The Celebration of Light is our cornerstone event. As the primary fundraiser of our foundation, the Celebration of Light allows Fulcrum to carry out our mission year after year to support and strengthen the students, educators, and schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
By participating in the 2021 Celebration of Light, you are a meaningful part of Fulcrum’s mission. You are the reason Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle receive the technology they need to overcome the challenges of the pandemic. You are the reason that Catholic educators can expand their leadership skills to help their schools flourish and their students thrive. You are the reason that families can make the dream of Catholic education a reality for their children.
Quite simply, by being a part of the Celebration of Light, you will change lives. We hope you’ll join us!
The Celebration of Light is free and all are welcome! Please register online now at FulcrumFoundation.org.
God Bless,
Vivian K. Shannon
