Presented each year at the Celebration of Light, the Archbishop’s Award recognizes outstanding benefactors of Catholic schools. The award affirms that Catholic schools in Western Washington remain places of academic excellence, with a strong focus on community and service to others, thanks to the generosity of those who support them.
Fulcrum’s prestigious Archbishop’s Award will go to Richard and Maude Ferry at the Celebration of Light 2024 on January 19. Richard and Maude were leading Fulcrum supporters from the beginning. Their steady and faithful support of Fulcrum helped the foundation gain traction in its early years.
Sadly, Maude passed away in 2021. However, the extraordinary focus and generosity that the Ferrys shared continues through Richard. Through his inspiring philanthropy, Richard has made an incredible impact on the children, families, and communities in our local Catholic schools.
Richard believes in standing up for what our Catholic faith and consciences tell us is right, no matter what is happening in the world around us. He was the driving force behind the creation of Fulcrum’s Becraft Scholars Program, an innovative scholarship program to help the students furthest from educational justice. The Becraft Scholars Program has helped many families attend Catholic schools and has shaped a new culture of belonging where all students and families can feel safe, loved, and accepted.
Fulcrum is honored to present the Archbishop’s Award to Richard and Maude, who showed us time again the true spirit of generosity, compassion, and leadership.
