Mm Crosses

As we prepare to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, we would like to share an example of the impact that Catholic schools have on entire families. Recently, a school in the archdiocese was able to accept two students whose family would not otherwise be able to afford tuition. This was made possible in part through tuition assistance from the Fulcrum Foundation.

At the beginning of the school year the family’s situation was uncertain and the parents separated abruptly. This left the mother as the sole provider for both children and affording tuition was not possible, so the students transferred to a public school. The mother quickly realized that the best and most supportive environment for her children was the Catholic school and sought to re-enroll them. It is a community they know and a community that will no doubt be a source of stability and comfort during these difficult times.

The mother now is working two jobs and with the support of Fulcrum and additional school aid, she is able to make Catholic education possible for her children. She knew that the community provided by Catholic schools would be critical in shaping her children's lives and supporting them for the long-term.

In addition, the school's principal shared this in gratitude:

"I wanted to say thank you for helping a family in our school community," she says. "The mother is very grateful to be able to send her children back to a Catholic school. The stability of our school will be helpful for her and her children. Thank you again for making this happen for the family."
